Jayden Lester Earns Gamer of the Week Honors
Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week Jayden Lester of Hurricane Baseball!
Jayden Lester has been performing well for 18-7 Hurricane Baseball this season. The senior is 5-1 on the mound this season with a 2.42 ERA. “The season has been going well, we are improving every game. I have just been trying to play hard every game, and the coaches have been working with me to make sure I am ready every game,” said Lester when discussing this season. “The Spring Valley game this week was a highlight this season, everything clicked really well and everything was firing for us, which is great to see this time of year,” he continued.
Lester has also contributed in the batter’s box hitting .357 with 16 RBI’s this season. “Jayden is a tremendous young man who is a leader on and off the field for our team. He has done a great job on the mound and at the plate all year for us and his team first attitude is off the charts,” said Head Coach Brian Sutphin.
Lester started playing baseball when he was 4 years old, and says that he enjoys the competition in the sport as well as the time spent with teammates. When discussing role models and people who have helped along the way, Lester pointed to his grandparents who try to make it to as many games as they can to support him.
In addition to baseball at Hurricane, Lester is a member of National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Next year he plans to attend Potomac State College to play baseball and study computer engineering.
