Pearson Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Kjuan Pearson of Winfield Football!

Kjuan Pearson has been filling the stat sheet this season for the (9-2) Winfield General Football Team. The Senior running back has 21 touchdowns and well over 1000 all-purpose yards this season. “This season has been great, as a captain, I have just been trying to be a leader and take care and set an example for the younger guys coming up,” said Pearson.

In the first round of the playoffs against Lewis County, Pearson had an impressive day with 2-receiving touchdowns, 1-rushing touchdown, and a defensive touchdown where he intercepted a ball and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown. “Kjuan is a 2-year two-way starter that has had a big senior season. He had worked hard to improve his game and is leading our team in yards and touchdowns. He is very respectful, polite, and coachable. Kjuan is a great teammate and is loved by all on the team,” said Head Coach Eddie Smolder.

Pearson started playing football when he was young and said he watched his uncles and cousins play and just wanted to follow in their footsteps and improve on what they were able to accomplish. Pearson plans to play football in college and is still narrowing down his options to play and earn a degree in business. In addition to Football, Pearson was a state qualifier on the Track last season for Winfield.

When discussing Goals, Pearson indicated all he is focused on is what it will take to win the next game as the Generals work their way through the playoffs. The #6 Winfield Generals will host #14 Independence in the second round of the playoffs Friday, November 17 at 7:30pm.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
