Johnson Awarded Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s female Gamer of the Week to junior, Annaniesha Johnson of the St. Albans High School basketball team.

Red dragon guard number 1, Annaiesha Johnson is leading her team to a successful season of 8-3 on the 2023-2024 season. Johnson has been playing basketball for 9 years after growing up watching her brother play and wanted to join the culture of basketball. Johnson likes the fact that she has a chance to take basketball far and can play with a group of amazing teammates.

Goals that Johnson has for the Red Dragon’s season includes going to the civic center for the state basketball tournament and to keep building chemistry with her team. Johnson believes her team’s success has come from better communication, staying together, and getting in better shape. A role model that Annaniesha has is her mother “She keeps me motivated and helps me through hard courses in life”.

Coach Ricky Steele “Annaniesha Johnson has been playing really well as of late. She has had multiple games scoring in double digits and has averaged 3.5 steals a game. She is our shooting guard and deserves some love for her play and leadership thus far”. The Red Dragons will be back action at 7pm January 24th at home versus the Huntington highlanders.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
