Jones Awarded Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week to Junior, Jaden Jones of the Hurricane High School softball team.

Junior #8, Jaden Jones is off to a good start to the 2024 Redskins Softball season. The Shortstop has a batting average of .538, an on base percentage of .600, a homerun and three stolen bases. “Jaden is our spark. She’s our leadoff hitter and always brings the energy for our team. We always know Jaden will give 100 percent effort for her team and do whatever is takes to win” Head Coach Megan Stevens.

Jones has been playing softball since she was 7 years old after joining her best friend at the time who also played the sport. Jaden’s favorite thing about the sport is getting to hang out with her friends. Jones’s main goal for this season is to make it to states. She believes her team has a lot of potential and overall has more team chemistry this year than in past years.

When discussing role models for Jaden she said her role model is definitely her grandpa. “He has always been my #1 fan and the person I got to for everything. He has supported me through everything and taught me a lot about to game of softball”. Outside of Hurricane softball Jones plays travel softball for the Regulators.  Jones has earned second team all-conference for second base her freshman year and shortstop for her junior year. After high school Jaden plans to attend college and pursue a degree in business. The Hurricane Redskins will be back in action at home versus the Oak Hill Red Devils Wednesday March 27th at 7pm.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
