London Awarded Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week to Sophomore, Haley London of the Poca High School wrestling team.

Poca’s 138lb girls wrestler, Haley London had a successful 2023-24 wrestling season with a winning record of 18-12 and 8-2 against female.  In February she wrestled in and took first place in an all-girls tournament at South Charleston HS. “Haley is a great wrestler and student. She always puts in a 100% at competitions and practices. She brings energy to the practice room and is always mat side cheering on her teammates during competition. Even through injuries she is always putting in the work. It’s great to be able to coach her and excited to see how she progresses in her upcoming junior and senior years” Head coach Gary Graley.

London first got involved with the sport of wrestling after wanting to pursue football, but her parents and friends thought wrestling would be a better fit. This is London’s 5th year wrestling and her favorite thing about the sport is long trips on the bus and when she and her teammates play games at practice. Her overall record this year is 18-12. When wrestling London believes her team's success this season comes from hard work, “We work hard even when other teams aren't working”.

London’s role model is her dad. “He is my role model because he is strong and works hard for everything he has and works until it is great” After high school, London plans to enter the workforce and potentially attend college if the opportunity presents itself.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s female Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
